Course objectives
To enable delegates to understand the safety requirements for mechanical access equipment and safely install, operate and manoeuvre the machines covered by each respective course.
Who will benefit
All operators or supervisors that use or intend to use scissor lifts, mast climbing work platforms, self-propelled boom lifts and aerial work platforms.
Course content
- Awareness of safety responsibilities
- Accident prevention
- Pre-use, daily and weekly checks
- PPE requirements
- Features, capabilities and limitations of the machine category
- Safe operation/installation procedure and manoeuvring of the machine category
- Test paper

Training methods
Lectures, video, demonstration and practical use.
Certification
Successful delegates will receive a Powered Access Licence card (PAL) and a safety guide and log book relating to the specific type of mechanical access machine on which the delegates have been trained.
PPE requirement
Delegates should have a safety helmet, boots, gloves and eye protection, plus casual clothes. Safety harnesses will be provided where appropriate.
Course duration
1-2 days, dependent on machine selected and experience
