SGB Rovacabin providing much needed space at countryside learning centre
SGB Rovacabin have delivered a new bespoke modular building for Priors Court
School in Thatcham adding more outdoor learning opportunities at their Countryside
Leaning Centre for autistic children.
Priors Court called in SGB to provide crucial classroom space for the children,
enabling the countryside-learning centre to be used all year round. The learning
centre was set up as part of the school’s focus on vocational skills where pupils
are encouraged to learn about and care for a range of animals including chickens,
sheep and pygmy goats. This new space means that the children can now also undertake
observational tasks.
The 12m x 6m modular building consists of a teaching area, staff office, toilets
and washing facilities. To blend in with the setting of the listed main school
building and other existing timber buildings on site, SGB Rovacabin designed the
units with a timber clad finish, located parallel to a yard with a seating and
play area in between the two.
King & Associates specified SGB Rovacabin on this project due to their comprehensive
knowledge in the education sector and the cost effective budget proposals provided.
Robin King, the architect, comments “SGB’s achievement of promised dates, specification, attention to details
and service at a personal level has been first class in every respect and is greatly
appreciated by all involved.”
The new classroom facility was handed over to the school on the 21st of July ready for the new school term to start in September.
