Harsco Infrastructure lands top Scots contract

Harsco Infrastructure (formerly SGB) has sealed an exclusive three-year contract with Land Engineering, one of Scotland’s leading civil engineering contractors, to supply them with their modular building range, ROVACABIN®.

The deal, worth in the region of £900,000, involves the provision of site cabins and peripheral equipment for all Land Engineering contracts.

For three decades, Land Engineering has led the field in civil engineering, public realm, environmental projects and grounds maintenance in Scotland, serving both public and private sector clients.

David Walker, sales manager for Harsco Infrastructure explains, “Land Engineering are specialists in their field and when we were approached about being their sole supplier we knew that our expertise in this field would make us an ideal team.”

Among Harsco Infrastructure’s first projects for Land Engineering was the delivery and installation of three anti-vandal units erected outside the iconic Scottish Parliament building in Edinburgh.  Land Engineering secured the contract to install streetscape measures outside Scottish Parliament and needed Harsco’s modular buildings for office and storage space during this project.

The buildings comprise one 20’ by 8’ secure store, one 20’ by 8’ open-plan office, and a 26’ by 9’ ROVACABIN® welfare unit. The office unit is stacked on top of the store to reduce space requirements.

Harsco Infrastructure’s all-steel anti-vandal range of ROVACABIN® feature solid steel window shutters and high-strength doors, which are designed to deter burglars and keep valuable tools, materials and equipment safe when unoccupied.

The ROVACABIN® welfare cabin is a self-contained anti-vandal unit and can contain facilities such as a kitchen, mess area, changing room and toilets. It also incorporates a generator and water tanks and requires no service connections.

To further enhance security, Harsco Infrastructure fitted the roof of the ROVACABIN® office unit with floodlights to illuminate the immediate area. The ROVACABIN® were installed in mid-November 2009 and will remain on site until April 2010.
